Miwok Tribal Chairman Unaware of his Heritage.

Miwok Tribal Chairman Nick Fonseca didn't even KNOW HE WAS Indian until he was 13. And now, he's the leader of his tribelet.

Cesar Caballero says:

The 39-year-old graphic artist says that 300 descendents of El Dorado County Miwok Indians are being denied their tribal rights, including land on the Shingle Springs Rancheria and proceeds from the new Red Hawk Casino.

The Sacramento Verona Band of Homeless Indians has stolen the identity of the Shingle Springs tribe in order to build the casino and reap the rewards, Caballero claims.

Wonder how much Mark Macarro really knows about his heritage? From what I understand if he did he would not have disenrolled the Hunters? Have you heard of "what goes around comes around?"

Macarro knows full well his heritage.

But, more importantly to him, he KNEW that he could get away with allowing the disenrollment.

Never ONCE did DOING THE RIGHT thing enter his mind, I'd wager.

Nick Fonseca knows his heritage NOW, and he's smart or mean enough to keep so many others from getting what's rightfully theirs.

Great work Nick, in NOT helping all Miwok people.

BIA HAS DONE SUCH AN INJUSTICE TO OUR PEOPLE. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE DOCUMENTATION OF THE SHINGLE SPRINGS BAND OF MIWOK INDIANS DATING THEMSELVES ON THE RANCHERIA.
AREN"T YOU SUPPOSE TO BE THE TRIBAL DESCENT OF THE TRIBE IN WHICH YOU ARE CHAIRPERSON? HOW DOES HAWAIIAN AND MAIDU DESCENT CONSTITUTE BEING A SHINGLE SPRINGS "MIWOK" LEADER?

I HAVE TRIED TO RESEARCH THE BYLAWS AND CONSTITUTION OF SUCH TRIBE: THE SHINGLE SPRINGS BAND OF MIWOK INDIANS WITH NO RESULTS.
IT WOULD SEEM THAT IF ONE HAD NOTHING TO HIDE THEN AN OPEN CONSTITUTION OF THE THE TRIBE FOR PUBLIC VIEWING WOULDN'T BE A PROBLLEM. CAN ONE FIND THIS CONSTITUTION ANYWHERE BESIDES WITH THE THIEVES THAT STOLE THE IDENTITY OF THE ORIGINAL DESCENDENTS?

Pechanga tribal chairman Mark Macarro's ancestors on the Macarro side of his family are from another local Luiseno tribe, Pauma.

The only reason he is in the Pechanga tribe today is that his Macarro ancestor married a Pechanga cousin of Hunter family matriarch Paulina Hunter.

So Macarro's family line is very similar to the Hunters.

But Macarro reportedly was the deciding vote in turning down the Hunters appeal to the tribal council during their disenrollment proceedings.

So why did Macarro vote to kick his own blood out of the tribe?

Maybe the CPP, knowing Macarro's family history, said that his family was next up for disenrollment if he didn't vote against the Hunters.

Those claiming to be Shingle Springs Miwoks and owners of the new large Red Hawk casino are Maidus. So why are they calling themselves Miwoks? Why not let in the REAL Miwoks and quit being bullies.

Cesar Caballero my nephew is fighting for what is rightfully our identity which is Miwok. The Blackwell/Craig name has been around El Dorado for many moons. This injustice should not be allowed, and our identity should not have been stollen. Red Hawk Casino should let us in and quit the non sense.......Doris Blackwell Carbajal
