Is the BIA Responsible for the TRIBAL DISENROLLMENT SHOOTINGS at CEDARVILLE? Senator Feinstein, Time to ACT

Tribal disenrollment, the cute name given to the ripping out of the culture/history of Native People, has been growing for a decade, under the eyes of the Department of Interior, The Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Justice Department.

This blog has been working for seven years to bring those stories to light and to seek justice for those Native Americans harmed by their own tribes.

I am Pechanga, and the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians have eliminated 20% of their tribe under the guidance of Mark Macarro and his chief council member Andrew Masiel. Acting OUTSIDE the Tribal Constitution

The BIA watched while at the Picayune Rancheria of Chukchansi Indians they shot pepper spray and threw flaming embers at elders.

The Redding Rancheria forced the Foreman family to DIG UP their ancestor for a DNA test which was 99.8% positive...and disenrolled them anyway.

San Pasqual, PALA, Nooksack, Mixed Blood Uinta.  The list is growing and look at what the lack of leadership has culminated in:  MURDER.    Did the BIA really think this wouldn't happen?   Do they think it WON'T happen again?

I say yes and so is the justice department, this quasi-sovereignty is a breeding ground for this type of criminal behavior that has been left unchecked for too long. This not an experiment, these are real lives that we are dealing with here, not animals. There must be consequences for this type of behavior by criminal tribal governments, unchecked this will happen again.

I bet if the thugs from the Masiel Crime Family were disenrolled...they'd come shooting and wouldn't care if they violated their paroles....

What do they expect to happen when people's civil rights and lives are messed with and the BIA won't step in. People can only take so much. Hopefully now the the BIA will step up before this happens at PALA and I wouldn't be suprised with the things Smith and Nieto are doing to their own people trying to claim sovereignty to keep anyone from actually looking at what they are doing. If someone did they would easily see there is nothing there to justify what they do.

Eric holder resigned in the middle of a pechanga case ? What does that tell you ?

We'll the BIA did say it's a tribal matter so fix it because they can't get involved. Maybe they told this lady the same thing so she did. I don't know what these people did to this lady but if it's half of what Mark Maccaro or Robert Smith have done then their no victims.

this was bound to happed. you have a corrupt government that steals and oppresses there people violates civil rights steals individuals identities and self-worth embezzle moneys all wile hiding behind sovereignty. then you have the congress of the United States that is supposed to enforce civil rights uphold peoples rights freedom and the pursuit of happiness. But with congress People like Darrel Issa, Rudy Ruiz, Ken Calvert and others that ignore and protect these government's with the knowledge of these injustice all for a bribe I mean contribution. Then you have Senators like Barbra Boxer that not only takes her bribe I mean contribution but recently works for the tribes to steal rights and property from disenrolled Indians and give them to these corrupt government. her Pechanga Water bill is trying to take away original allottee water rights away from the disenrolled for just being disenrolled with out hearing why they are disenrolled then give them to the tribal governments that eligibly disenrolled them. when ask for help from congress or senate they reply we cant get involved in this matter but they are involved in this water bill to take more from the disenrolled and give it to corrupt tribal government's for there bribes I mean contribution money. the disenrolled people have lost their native pride some the homes kick off the reservation. health benefits with direr consequents. now take people that have every thing taken from them and when they go the people in the government that are swore in to protect them and up hold the law instead ignore them. this is what happens you have people with nothing to lose. To date on the Barbara Boxer Pechanga water bill that take original allottee rights away she has not responded to the questions I have asked her on this bill. yes congress and senate are part of this blame of violence that has happened and will probably happen again if nothing is done.

This is sad indeed I pray for all involved. The fact that the BIA and the Secretary of the Interior turn a blind eye to corrupt leaders that bully their membership and use their power to abuse like a dictatorship has been gone on far to long. This is happening all over the country in many different Tribal Nations with no help, but yet the US government can justify sending troops out to other countries to help when they feel the citizens of those countries are being abused. Replies from the BIA, Secretary of the Interior and Congress tell abused members they cannot get involved because they respect the sovereign nation and Treaties, but yet there are broken promises on some of the Treaties that were signed that are still pending on appeals. I certainly do not condone taking another persons live, but when you are left to fend for yourself to protect your own live, culture, history and the future of your children extreme measures come out. It is time for the BIA, Secretary of the Interior and Congress to step in and help the defenseless tribal members. Obviously, telling them to handle at the tribal level is not working.

BIA= Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Allowing Apartheid acts to occur as "internal tribal matters." Violent acts will occur if Internal Apartheid acts are allowed to continue. the acts that have occurred at Pechanga are inexcusable, ask anyone who sees through the lies told by Macarro. Pushing people around with bullying tactics always come back to the starter. Luiseno Indians never disenrolled each other for any reasons. Never ever!

RIGHT NOW Chukchansi tribe is using cement blocks, razor wire and bulldozers to block access to tribal buildings and offices.Tribal employees post comments on facebook "I'm scared" I'm pretty sure that this is ALL BAD

I hope that smith and nieto are shitting their huggies right now.
Robert Smiyh is nothing but a chickenshit liar. Dion Perez is a punk, he is the one that made the motion to dis-enroll the first eight at Pala. And Nieto made the the motion to dis-enroll the second round of 154 LEGIT tribal members, and thinks that they are going to get away with it.
Well guess what, you will never get away with it, its only a matter of time before the karma starts to kick in, and then you and yours will see how it feels when everything is gone. And you watch as your loved one start to get sick and die off. But you can not blame anyone but yourselfs.

The blood of the 4 victims is on the hands of the United States, Department of the Interior, and B.I.A.. Send U.S. servicemen overseas to protect and liberate ooppressed individuals of foreign "SOVEREIGN" countries, yet fail the clean up the s#@t in their own back yard? Sounds like the shooter used a six shooter, 4 dead, 1 wounded, and she stabbed the 6th victim after running out of ammo, I wonder where the 6th bullet went? can a ricochet make it to southern california?

Dion & Teresa come from a family of squatters!Their ancestor came from Cahuilla, lived in Morongo for some time before moving to Pala.

I think that also applies to Howard Maxey also.

So it sounds like the EC in Pala has 3 first cousins,nieto-perez-maxey. And then you have smith-and lopez, also first cousins.
And the members think that every-thing os on the up and up.
Not only that, but the 3 first cousins are squatters.
WTF, wake up Pala people.

All of these so called leaders need to get a rude awakening. just because the take photos with
obama, they think that they are someone special. Hell, you can go to the zoo and see the same photos.
Like the one that hangs in the Pala Admit.building of obama and
smith. It looks like a "PIG" and a
"MONKEY"wearing a suit.

As horrible as the shootings in Alturas are, this women snapped because she was pushed to far. Her brother became a tyrant after becoming chairman and the younger members were afraid of him. He hid behind sovereign immunity and Cherie, his own sister, was threatened with loss of her identity, homeland and membership. But, it was probably the fact that he was out to destroy her son that made her snap. As long as Indians in PL 280 states have no unbiased forum to which they can appeal, this will happen again. I am surprised that it hasn't happened before now. The arrogance of tribal councils disregarding their own constitutions and systematically eliminating anyone who opposes them or doing so in order to avoid cutting the per capita of the rest of the membership, so that they can continue to draw huge salaries and to also keep paying the White attorneys exorbitant sums, is despicable and needs to be stopped. No attorney is worth 23 million a year. But the attorneys and tribal councils need to stick together to cover for each other. All at the expense of our heritage, culture and future. General memberships are afraid to challenge corrupt tribal councils because they are afraid they will be next to be disenrolled, just as the young people shot on THursday were afraid to challenge their uncle and father. But, they will come for you or your children eventually. Burying your head in the sand ultimately does not work.

If what the Corrupt Tribal Governments did to the evicted, disenrolled tribal members is legal then show it. The true reason they don't show it is because it's illegal and not the Indian way. Once accepted, always accepted is the true way. The Federal government accepted the band and in most cases set aside land for the band forever. In most cases Internal tribal greed taking over. It's not internal when violence erupts, that's why it shouldn't be internal when Apartheid takes members under distress and can lead to violence. Another member saying members should accept this is unkind, and untruthful. People should never accept to be treated by corrupt acts of a few greedy liars.

I think its time for all of us to protest aginst the BIA.
1) start at the Riverside office.

2) go to sacramento.

3) if nothing is done, go to Washington and stay until they do something.

if we can get at least 100 to 150
protesters at each site, would be a good start.

@ 10:43 PM- You mention Howard Maxey. WTF does Howard Maxey have to do with anything at Pala? He's not a Pala member. He doesn't live there and never did. And he may be an old dude, but he's still probably kick your ass.
