Property owners, blocked by Indian tribes, to host press conference to share Frustration

About 40 disenfranchised property owners will be at the Riverside Courthouse Wednesday, June 16.  They will tell their stories of how Indian tribes, in their quest for more casino-fueled power, are infringing upon private property rights.

This will be an emotional event since these folks are scared and frustrated because their property, lives, dreams and investments are on the line.
Lloyd Fields' story in Banning is typical. The Morongo Tribe has blocked the only public road leading to his property, stripping it of nearly all of its value.  (The blocked road is named after his Fields' father – adding insult to injury.)
These property owners from throughout Riverside County are simply asking for fair treatment by local, state and federal officials to protect their legitimate interests and life-safety.

The event starts at 10:30 a.m. and will include five property owners who have allegedly had their properties blockaded or devalued or vandalized as impacted by the Morongo Band of Mission Indians.

Others will represent property owners impacted by the Sobaba Band of Luiseno Indians and the Colorado River Indian Tribes.

I wonder if Morongo, even if they have shafted their neighbors, is going to claim sovereign immunity. This is the kind of thing, in addition to the way tribes have violated the rights of their members, that is going to erode sovereignty for tribes that have never treated their people or their neighbors badly.

I got an idea, if any tribes want to keep claiming absolute sovereignty when it suits them, then why do they need any kind of assistance from the federal government?

Do people realize that federally recognized tribes get federal funding even those that have lucrative gambling casinos.

NOW IT'S STARTING. ALL THESE BIG CASINO RUN TRIBES ARE LOOKING FOR WAYS TO SCREW THEIR MEMBERSHIPS MORE, AND STEAL MORE ALLOTEES' LAND. THE RUTHLESSNESS AND LAWLESSNESS THAT RUNS RAMPANT THROUGHOUT INDIAN COUNTRY IS MIND BOGGLEING. THIS "I CAN'T BE TOUCHED" MENTALITY IS BRINGING INTO PLAY METHODS THAT CAN'T BE LEGAL, AND HAS TO GO AGAINST THEIR RESPECTIVE CONSTITUTIONS AND BY LAWS, MUCH LESS ANY STATE OR FEDERAL LAWS. ARE THESE DECEITFULL, CORRUPT, AND GREEDY TRIBAL LEADERS "MAKEING THIS UP AS THE GO?" THEY HAVE TO BE. THE TRIBAL LEADERS OF THESE TRIBES ARE COMMITTING ILLEGAL ACTS REPEADEDLY OVER AND OVER AGAIN WITHOUT ANY OVERSITE OR DUE PROCESS. WHERE IS THE GOVERNMENT (INDIAN AFFAIRS) WHILE ALL THIS IS HAPPENING THROUGHOUT "INDIAN COUNTRY?" WHAT GOOD ARE THEY FOR THE "NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN? I ASK YOU? WHERE ARE THE SAFEGUARDS OF THE INDIAN CIVIL RIGHTS ACT? WITH FEDERAL FUNDING TO RECOGNIZED TRIBES, EVEN GAMING TRIBES, THERE SHOULD BE OVERSITE TO WHAT IS ILLEGALLY PERPETRATED AGAINST BESEIGED NATIVE AMERICANS AND THEIR RIGHTS TO LANDS, AND THE RIGHTS TO USE THESE LANDS ON THEIR RESPECTIVE RESERVATIONS. "THIS HAS TO STOP." THE GOVERNMENT (INDIAN AFFAIRS) HAS GOT TO BE MADE TO LISTEN, FOR IF THEY DON'T THE DAMAGE THAT IS BEING DONE WON'T BE ABLE TO BE REPAIRED. AND THE TRIBAL LEADERS WILL DESTROY ALL RIGHTS AND PRIVELEDGES OF THE TRUE AMERICAN INDIAN, ALL FOR "GREED." WE NEED TO ACT "NOW." THEY'RE "TESTING THE WATER" TO SEE IF THE GOVERNMENT (INDIAN AFFAIRS) WILL ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING. AND IF THEY DON'T THEY WILL CONTINUE TO "MAKE IT UP AS THEY GO" AND BELIEVE ME THE NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN WILL CONTINUE TO LOSE WHAT IS RIGHTFULLY THEIRS. I KEEP SAYING WE ARE NO LONGER "SHEEP TO THE SLAUGHTER." NOW PROVE IT! WE HAVE RIGHTS!

Smokeybear, this is not involving allottees this is regarding private property owners near reservation lands that the tribe(s)is infringing on, non Indian property owners.

So some of the tribes think that they can give the shaft to their neighbors as well as some tribes that screw their own people.

I know that we like to think that tribes only mistreat their own people but this issue shows that tribes can cause misery for people who are not their own also.

O.K. I MISS READ IT. BUT THEY ARE STILL MAKING THIS STUFF UP AS THEY GO. THAT SHOULD MEAN THAT THE PROPRTY ONWERS SHOULD HAVE RIGHTS IN THE WHITE MANS COURT. THAT DOEN'T MEAN THAT THEY WON'T COME AFTER THEIR OWN MEMBERSHIP IF IT SUITS THEM. SO MANY ILLEGAL THINGS HAVE COME ABOUT SINCE THE ONSET OF THE CASINOS, THAT THE GOVERNMENT (INDIAN AFFAIRS) STILL NEEDS TO GET MORE AGGRESSIVELY INVOLVED AND PUT A STOP TO THESE HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS THROUGHOUT INDIAN COUNTRY. AGAIN IF THEY DON'T THE NATIVE AMERICAN WILL CONTINUE TO LOSE WHAT IS RIGHTFULLY THEIRS. THE "MACARRO CARTEL" IS UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO HOLD ON TO THE "FOX IN THE HENHOUSE" MENTALITY WITH THEIR IRON FISTED GRIP ON PECHANGA'S TRIBAL COUCIL AND MEMBERSHIP. RUMOR HAS IT THAT MARK AND HIS HENCHMEN ARE STARTING TO FALL FROM GRACE WITH ALL THE ILLEGAL, AND CORRUPT DEALING THAT ARE COMING TO THE FOREFRONT. THE TRIBAL COUNCIL, AND MEMBERDHIP NEEDS TO ADDRESS THESE ISSUES BEFORE IT'S TO LATE. MARK MACARRO IS LEADING THEM DOWN A PATH OF "DESTRUCTION."

It'll really be an emotional event. If everything is only the line, they should probably be frustrated.
