UPDATE PECHANGA HAS NO CULTURAL Affiliation to San Nicolas: After Ripping the Hearts From LIVE Tribal Members, Pechanga Assuages Guilt with Remains of LONE WOMAN ancestors of San Nicolas Island

The Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians Indians, having stolen the heritage from living members, casually ripping at their hearts, have taken control of remains 100 miles away from their homeland.  Bones are more important than people in Macarro World.  There is NOT a single reference to Pechanga in the Wikipedia under Tongva.  There is a reference of Dr. Johnson..

On Thursday, the Navy affirmed that connection, agreeing to repatriate 469 human remains and 436 burial objects to the Pechanga. Those items are now contained in five collections on the mainland and one on the island. Through that agreement, the tribe will have greater authority over the handling of those items, which tribal officials view as sacred.
“What today’s decision means is that nearly 500 human remains, and hundreds of burial and sacred items will finally be afforded the respect and dignity they have long deserved under federal law,” (known liar) Mark Macarro said in the statement. “The staggering amount of remains and sacred items involved stands as a testament to the need for stronger laws that respect Native heritage throughout the United States.”
While the Pechanga are the only tribe to step forward to claim a connection to the Nicoleno, there may be other Southern California tribes that also share that affiliation, officials said.

If only Macarro and the Masiel Basquez Crime Family were concerned for the LIVING, but then, the DEAD don't require per capita payments.

UPDATE: PECHANGA has NO cultural affiliation say experts, so then WHAT is it about..claim to San Nicolas after the NAVY leaves?

Many archaeologists who are knowledgeable about the earliest inhabitants of the Channel Islands say a preponderance of skeletal and DNA data affiliates the island with Gabrielino Tongva Indians, who occupied the greater Los Angeles Basin and the southern three islands: Santa Catalina, San Clemente and San Nicolas.

Among them is John Johnson, curator of anthropology at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. "Granting cultural affiliation with Pechanga would be a big mistake," he said. "I don't believe it would survive a legal challenge. The four words do not indicate some sort of cultural connection."

Last week, however, the Navy announced it had determined that the Pechanga were culturally affiliated with the remains of 469 people and 436 objects that have been removed from San Nicolas Island and are now stored in museum and university collections throughout the state.

At least they are trying to honor our Ancestors. Maybe they will face the truth for "ALL" decedent's. Little steps in the right direction may help the apartheid running clans face the truth.

We are all here 4ever

Macarro should realize that if he can claim bones 100 miles from his rez, then we can open a casino 40 miles from ours; he should learn to mind his manners, and right quick at that.

Taking advantage of non federal recognized tribes... The NicoleƱo have the closest connection to the Gabrielino, I don't think Macarro knows his history.

The remains are most likely Tongva, This macarro should get his facts straight.

Maccaro only claims these ancestral remains to benefit his public image if true humanity were involved pechanga would have been found not guilty by special rapport ore for \indigenous at university of Arizona (GUILTY OF HUMAN AND CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATIONS )MR . MACCARO and PECHANGA !!

What a joke, rollin on the ground laughing at Macarro Lol.

Bones found in TJ mexico, oh those are pechanga bones.

If TONGVA doesn't want the bones, WHY shouldn't Pechanga claim them?

In the spirit of Adam Castillo said...

TONGVA wants the bones and will have them. PERIOD.

Is there a plan in place yet to reclaim the Tongva Ancestors? If so, let me know, I'll report it...

I could see mark with a tear in his eye, those bones are my people.

Now back to gaming.

A federally recognized tribe is the only entity that can enact repatriation through NAGPRA. Besides Luiseno territory extended all the way to Los Angeles, and the "people" who claim Gabrieleno may have a cultural affiliation, but so do tte Luis no because they are related. Also, the Luiseno through the Pechanga band are protecting the remains and funerary items from destruction through federal protections that State recognized tribes can't.

Expert whom Pechanga hired:

Among them is John Johnson, curator of anthropology at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. "Granting cultural affiliation with Pechanga would be a big mistake," he said. "I don't believe it would survive a legal challenge. The four words do not indicate some sort of cultural connection."

Will Pechanga now bring their relations, the TONGVA into the tribe, so they can benefit from Pechanga's FEDERAL recognition, or just steal their relations bones?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but John Johnson is not the best "expert" to rely on when trying to make a point. He is accused of doing the same thing that you guys accuse the Pechanga Tribe of doing, except he does authenticating at the academic level. He goes to scholarly conferences and tells people who the real Chumash people are, and anyone who does not fit into his "research" he deems not "real" Chumash. Several families have protested against Dr. Johnson because he publicly "discusses" their family lineages and then claims that they have no ties to the Chumash. So every Luiseno tribe should just forget about their political status and share in all their wealth and resources without any guidelines to determine who is eligible or not? Sounds utopian, until you realize the huge problem, the federal government and federal law and policy.

that's where the truth is heading. The greedy want the disenrolled to go away and accept being pushed around. Our Ancestors where being pushed around by greedy land, property settlers and agencies who believed our Ancestors would just go away. The federal Government finally settled these issues with reservations and Indian rights. ALL Indians should be recognized not just the greedy band members who think they can dishonor our Ancestors and heirs of ALL members who are Federally recognized. Keep broadcasting the truth, the bad actors need to face it.

For this purpose we have many individuals who are "Most likely descendants" who are eligible to claim remains under NAGPRA even when we are not federally recognized, now it makes sense why Macarro supported with 2k the AB52 BILL a couple months ago. http://www.montereyherald.com/general-news/20140723/asm-luis-alejo-bill-opposed-by-non-recognized-tribes

Pechanga is looking to establish a claim on San Nicolas. And because the Tongva won't stand up, they may get it.

Anonymous said...

Pechanga is a criminal enterprise. We know they have no morals.

It's a simple matter to steal some property from a tribe with no federal recognition.

The Tongva, as a divided people, are weak. They need to come together to defend their ancestors.

In the Spirit of Adam Castillo said...

You can't come together with a white lawyer (Jonathan Stein) who took a major part of disenrolling the real Tongva descendants because we didn't agreed to open a casino. My band will fight until the last piece of remains is recovered and when we get them, I'll volunteer to give Macarro my dog bones for free. IN HIS FACE.

Gabrieleno were the primary Tribe logistically located to the Island. It is somewhat of a stretch to say the Juaneno or the Luisueno and now the Pachanga are the identified ancestors to the Island is unsubstantiated. Geographically and logistically, the Gabrieleno are the most likely descendants of the Island. Several historians and researchers have confirmed the Gabrieleno as direct inhabitants related to the Nicoleno people. Today the Gabrieleno have been historically identified as the Kit'c (People of the grass huts). Only the KIZH should have entitlement to any human remains. Pachanga, as we speak, have been self-appointed as the rightful heirs to the remains on the Island. This is farthest from the truth. Any tribe or Indian would never over-step their boundaries in another Tribes territory or affairs. Its amazing what a casino, money, and greed will do to the unwritten understandings and respect between tribes. You should be a shame of yourself Ms. Monroe. A expert at linguistics. Who has been paying to come out with tongueva language that never existed? Now the pachanga. QUIT distorting the truth. Here is the evidence (and you should already be aware of this) that it is the Gabrieleno who have the direct association to the Nicoleno people. Panchanga and Mocoso have violated a sacred understand and respect between tribes by crossing over boundaries where they have no indigenous jurisdiction. Look at the following: http://escholarship.org/uc/item/42p65979#page-6. Pages 193-194 dispel anything the pachanga or moroe claim. She should know her history. She must be on of the many where degrees are given and not earned at CSLB.

Political ideology should not drive your reasoning towards understanding linguistics, history, oral history, culture, and research. Pam Munroe has been working with Southern California tribal communities for decades, she is an expert, if not the leading expert, in the field of linguistics concerning So. Cal. The Luiseno have an intact oral history that describes their territory within Southern California, I got one tend to believe and side with tribal knowledge and cultural understandings of history that is handed down generationaly, not the non-Indian Western derived ideologies that forced Indigenous people into the social ills that plagued a lot of tribal communities. Stop mixing hatred, ideology, and your own agenda to promote an erasure of the truth or at the least frustrating the situation. Pamela Munroe knows what she is doing, I am thinking so do the Luiseno and the Pechanga Band.

How I Got My Ex Husband Back said...

Do you need an urgent spell to get your ex back, there is a great spiritualist who can help you, his name is Dr Brave!!

An amazing testimony on a spell caster who brought my husband back to me.. My name is Natasha Johnson,i live in Florida,USA,and I'm happily married to a lovely and caring husband ,with three kids. A very big problem occurred in my family seven months ago, between me and my husband .so terrible that he took the case to court for a divorce.he said that he never wanted to stay with me again, and that he didn't love me anymore. So he packed out of the house and made me and my children passed through severe pain. I tried all my possible means to get him back, after much begging, but all to no avail.and he confirmed it that he has made his decision, and he never wanted to see me again. So on one evening,as i was coming back from work,i met an old friend of mine who asked of my husband .So i explained every thing to him,so he told me that the only way i can get my husband back,is to visit a spell caster, because it has really worked for him too.So i never believed in spell, but i had no other choice, than to follow his advice. Then he gave me the email address of the spell caster whom he visited.{bravespellcaster@gmail.com}. So the next morning,i sent a mail to the address he gave to me,and the spell caster assured me that i will get my husband back the next day. What an amazing statement!! I never believed,so he spoke with me,and told me everything that i need to do. Then the next morning, So surprisingly, my husband who didn't call me for the past seven {7}months,gave me a call to inform me that he was coming back.So Amazing!! So that was how he came back that same day, with lots of love and joy,and he apologized for his mistake, and for the pain he caused me and my children. Then from that day,our relationship was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster. So, i will advice you out there to kindly visit the same website { http://enchantedscents.tripod.com/lovespell/},if you are in any condition like this,or you have any problem related to "bringing your ex back. So thanks to the Dr Brave for bringing back my husband ,and brought great joy to my family once again. { bravespellcaster@gmail.com }, Thanks..
