What’s boring the former governor are questions about why, in the closing hours of his governorship, he cut the prison sentence for Estaban Nunez, son of former Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, by more than half — from 16 to 7 years, in a case involving the killing of 22-year-old college student Luis dos Santos in San Diego. Nunez didn’t dispute the facts, didn’t contend he was innocent, and didn’t stand trial, choosing instead to plead guilty to manslaughter and assault charges.

Schwarzenegger Says He Gives CAA (Agents) the Green Light to Take Offers, WE need his tax dollars

Exciting news. My friends at CAA have been asking me for 7 years when they can take offers seriously. Gave them the green light today.
I wrote back that it was terrific, as we needed him back to work to pay taxes on the huge deficit he left us with. He may not have taken a salary as governor, but his lack of acting roles probably cost the state a couple of million dollars.

Lottery Sales No Sure Thing for States; CA Collections DOWN in 2009, Up in 2010
All the more reason why we should have our casino gaming money controlled by the state. It will even out the highs and lows of lottery sales.
In California, where cash shortages grew so severe in 2009 that the state was forced to issue IOUs to pay its bills, collections from ticket sales dipped 3.2 percent from 2008, to $2.7 billion. California now forecasts that lottery revenue will increase by $447 million, from fiscal 2010, to $3.5 billion in the budget year that ends in June.
California is taking a different approach. Former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who left office this month, signed a law in April to give the lottery latitude to pay out more of its revenue in prizes, a bid to draw more in more consumers. In California, lottery money is used to finance schools, a perennial target of lawmakers’ budget cuts.
“When you can pay out more, you can sell more tickets,” said Alex Traverso, a spokesman for the California lottery.

Schwarzenegger's Dirty Pool Negotiations With Rincon Struck Down by US Appeals Court
Our governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger is AGAIN rebuked by California courts. His illegal taxing of Native American tribes was struck down by the Appeals court.
California can’t force Indian tribes to share gambling profits to repair the state’s budget problems, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Tuesday.
In a stunning blow to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s tactics when dealing with tribes wanting casinos, a divided, three-judge panel of the appeals court said the governor can’t ask for money for the state’s general fund without offering something of value in return because that amounts to an illegal tax.
The court upheld a 2008 ruling by a federal judge in San Diego that the governor was playing dirty in his negotiations with North County’s Rincon Indian band.
There was dissent:
Dissenting Judge Jay Bybee said tribes with casinos here and around the country have agreed for years to share revenue with state governments, just as Schwarzenegger was seeking.
“The holding … does not just upset the apple cart — it derails the whole train,” Bybee wrote. “If the majority is correct, then there is nothing for California to do but to authorize whatever (slot machines) the band wants. The band wins. Everything.”
The state will seek to have Tuesday’s decision reviewed by a larger panel of 9th Circuit judges, said Jeff Macedo, a spokesman for Schwarzenegger

The Governator LOSES AGAIN to Indian Tribes
Our Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger's incompetence is showing AGAIN. His administration has been accused of tricking some tribes into signing new compacts that were unneeded. This will cost the state MILLIONS of dollars in revenue and may lead to California having to pay BACK monies paid. That will make the state's budget debt limbo bar even lower.
A San Diego federal judge has given North County’s Pauma Indian band a reprieve from multimillion-dollar payments to the state under a 2004 gambling deal.
Judge Larry Burns said the state compact was entered into mistakenly and ruled the tribe doesn’t have to pay under its terms until he makes a final ruling on the deal. Burns said he’s leaning toward undoing the compact and gave lawyers for the state time to come up with arguments to change his mind.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said through a spokesman that his legal team is reviewing its options.
The dispute turns on the negotiations Pauma entered into with Schwarzenegger in 2004 in an effort to replace its 1,050-slot casino — now housed in a metal-framed tent — with a resort to compete with those of neighboring tribes.
The tribe says it was tricked into those negotiations because the state insisted there weren’t additional slot machine licenses available under the compact signed in 1999 between the state and about 60 tribes
