Pinoleville Pomo Nation, whose chairman is in our HALL OF SHAME for exterminating the family who GOT THEIR TRIBAL RIGHTS BACK, is working to form an Ad Hoc committee to negotiate a memorandum of understanding for their proposed casino.

I am a member of Pinoleville, and the SAD thing is that I had to find all this information on the Internet. I have not received a newsletter or anything in over a couple years. It is very hard for us members that live afar and do not have transportation to get to our monthly meetings. And even if we can't, our Chairperson should do what is right and make sure that ALL tribal members get meeting minutes or any type of correspondence to keep the communication going amongst tribal members that live afar. I mean in 2003 we were provided transportation and lodging to make sure we made it to the Membership meeting which included voting for our Chairperson and counsel. And have never been offered the help for any other meetings. After that it's like we don't matter. But REALLY, what do we do?

Item 8(b)Presentation by Pinoleville Pomo Nation Tribal Representatives and Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Formation of an Ad Hoc Committee to Negotiate Terms of a Memorandum of Understanding Regarding Their Proposed Casino Development and Gaming Venture – Sponsoring Department: County Counsel
SUMMARY OF REQUEST: The County has been approached again by representatives from the Pinoleville Pomo Nation who have requested that the County engage in discussions regarding their proposed casino development and gaming venture that is to be located on North State Street (former site of Ken Fowler Auto Center). By way of background, in March 2009, the Pinoleville Pomo Nation entered into a Tribal Gaming Compact Agreement with the State of California. This compact was ultimately rejected by the BIA.
The Tribe is now in the process of negotiating a new compact with the State. Once a new agreement is reached with the State and approved by the BIA, the Tribe will be required to meet and confer with the affected local agencies to agree on mitigation of offsite impacts that will occur as a result of the gaming venture. Today, the Tribe will present their proposed plan. It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors form an Ad Hoc Committee now, consisting of two Supervisors who will ultimately work with the Tribe to negotiate a Memorandum of Understanding. It is further recommended that Supervisors Brown and McCowen be appointed to the Ad Hoc Committee as they are currently involved with the Coyote Valley Casino expansion Ad Hoc and have familiarity with the issues. Once an agreement is tentatively reached, it will be brought forward to the entire Board for consideration.

CORRUPTION, AND GREED, WHAT A CONCEPT. WE WATCH IT HAPPEN ON A DAILY BASIS THROUGHOUT INDIAN COUNTRY, AND THROUGHOUT, WHAT USE TO BE, OUR GREAT NATION. WE ALL TURN A BLIND EYE BECAUSE WE THINK WE ARE JUST ONE. WHAT THE HELL CAN I DO TO RIGHT THE EVER GROWING WRONGS THAT SEEM TO BE TO OVERWELMING FOR ALL OF US IN INDIAN COUNTRY, AND OUR QUEST TO DO BATTLE FOR OUR RIGHT TO HAVE THE ILLEGAL DISENROLLMENTS REVERSED AND TO TO HAVE THE PECHANGA MEMBERSHIP JUST FOLLOW THEIR OWN CONSTITUTION AND BY LAWS TO THE GREATER END; BRING US ALL BACK INTO THE FOLD. IT IS THE RIGHT, AND MORAL THING TO DO. IT WOULD BE SO EASY TO DO. WHY IS THE "MACARRO CARTEL" ALLOWED TO SPREAD THEIR "CANCER" THROUGHOUT PECHANGA AGAINST THEIR OWN PEOPLE, WITHOUT DUE PROCESS, AND THE MEMBERSHIP IS SO AFRAID THAT ANYONE OF THEM COULD BE NEXT IF THEY SPEAK UP. THE MIDDLE EAST PROOVES HAT CHANGE CAN HAPPEN, IT COULD AGAIN IN INDIAN COUNTRY. LET US MAKE IT HAPPEN.

One would think that if a Native American is elected into office, by majority of their family votes, that the person elected would be someone who was for the people, and do for ALL the people, not just their own. But to force people off of the roll who have more lineal descendance to the tribe than that person elected is morally wrong. What ever happened to the importance of family values? What ever happened to standing up for all Native Americans, not just a chosen few? And how can BIA or any other government agency sit back and allow this to happen without notifying those to be disenrolled? And, shouldn't there be a set standard of rules or obligations for tribal members that if so many are violated would other wise give substantial reasoning for disenrollment? It saddens my heart because I know many of the people, who, for no reason given or some lame reason of why, are disenrolled from Pinoleville Band of Pomo Indians. This prevents these Native Americans from any benefits or programs other wise eligible for if enrolled. How could people be so heartless? And, considering the history of our people, why would someone of our own kind be so full of greed that they would take away from the tribe as a whole, only to decide that they don't want certain people enrolled due to a personal vendetta? Leona Williams should be put behind bars for all the corruption and illegal practices thus jeopardizing the future of Pinoleville Band of Pomo Indians. Just another good example of Native Americans conforming to the White mans illegal practices against their own kind. I believe in order to reverse the disenrollment's, as well as all other legal matters that have occurred since Leona Williams has been in office, attention needs to be taken to good old Godfather Congress. Being a mandatory PL83-280 state (California), rules and regulations for disenrollment should specify exact reasoning for disenrollment, and then reviewed and decided or denied by Congress. Putting this sensitive issue in the hands of the elected only enables the situation at hand today- people for no legit, rational reason are disenrolled from their tribe, and by the hands that were voted into office. Why doesn't the tribe vote Leona Williams out of office? Because the only ones left to vote are her own kids and grand kids of legal voting age. So morally wrong in so many ways. But, like any other situation of betrayal and greed, Leona's ride as head honcho will come to an abrupt end once the Pinoleville tribe's disenrolled band together and submit complaints against Leona Williams for Corruption, Conspiracy, Treason, and any other federal or state statute violations that pertain to this case. I pray to The Creator that Leona Williams gets removed from the position as Chairperson of this tribe, and because of her actions, which morally violates members rights, is punished to the fullest extent the law allows for all she has done. To be voted into office by those whom trusted her to stand for them as a whole is so unjust. I also pray that these disenrolled tribal members are given back their rights, which were so wrongly taken, and do what's best for the tribe as a whole that is fair and just.
