JURY DEADLOCKS IN PECHANGA THEFT TRIAL. KARMA is a BITCH.

Jury leans 8-4 towards NOT GUILTY in Riley - Robinson trial. Tribe must be disappointed that thieves other than themselves get off. The Pechanga Tribe, led by Mark Macarro and Democrat Party operative Andrew Masiel Sr., has stolen over $350 MILLION from members they stripped of citizenship with hearsay evidence. A Riverside jury deadlocked today in the trial of two men accused of bilking the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians out of $4 million by pocketing funds reserved for the Temecula-based tribe's casino insurance.

On their second day of deliberations, jurors informed Riverside County Superior Court Judge Elisabeth Sichel that they were hopelessly deadlocked 8-4 in favor of finding James William Riley, 48, of Corona, and Ryan Jay Robinson, 41, of Temecula not guilty on most counts, prompting Sichel to declare a mistrial.

A defense request to dismiss the case will be heard Monday.

I know Mr. Riley personnally and he and Ryan are no thieves. It was proven they paid less than anyone other casino for their coverages, and due to a fluctuating "agency fee"(not commission) Pechanga feels he made too much money. So regardless of him making "too much money", Pechanga paid less for the same product as the other casinos. In Insurance law you DO NOT have to disclose your fees and you can charge any commissions or fee's, no matter how high, and still break no laws. No one bothered to ask him how much he was making so they can cry themselves to sleep about it. So please stop calling them "thieves", it's getting annoying. If Pechanga has stolen from their own, it's a shame, but separate from these gentlemen. Maybe ask the board why they didn't testify to bring these guys down?

I hope these guys can sue Pechanga for legal fees, but I'm sure the tribe will hide behind sovereign garbage...

My insurance agents have NEVER told me the fees they would make.

These two got insurance for Pechanga at a time when getting coverage was difficult.

I understand that this is a blog and you can be as biased as you want - but you shouldn't call people thieves and convict them before you have all the facts. Not only was the law on their side, but the facts also included that some Pechanga employees impeached themselves on the stand by outright lying to jurors and they were caught in their lies.

You have been wronged by your tribe due to nothing more than politics. Essentially you were gaining too much power, thus you had to be banished. You should understand the political power and lies you have yourself seen before stating your opinion, calling them thieves and convicting them before a trial. The truth and facts all came out, thus the favored outcome by the jurors.

I think the point is Pechanga was calling these men theives but not acknowledging that they have stolen much more from their own people than these men were accused of stealing.

I'm not sure if these men are guilty or not, but the jury has spoken. Obviously Pechanga can't get it right. You must know that for wrong doing to be "Proved," Pechanga had to sidestep their own "Criminal Activity" that would have surely been exposed. So in the end, Pechanga couldn"t make it stick for fear of exposing their own "Corrupt Acts." Pechanga has stolen more(from their own) then these guys could have ever done. So now what's next? Will the Government refile charges? Probably not..."Eagle Eyes.

From having spoken to someone who followed the trial each day and had a vested interest in the outcome, I learned the arrogance of the Pechanga employees that testified was evident in the eyes of the jurors. I feel for the disenrolled and general membership, who really have no idea what transpires on a daily basis at PR&C.

maybe pechanga doesn't have the influence it thinks it has -- this could be good for the rest of the community.

A few can DESTROY the reputation of many and the few need to be exposed. The suffering of the many needs to end!

Was one of them going out with Markstrom?

Read today's PE Newspaper article on charges being dismissed against Riley and Robinson. The judge was surpised nobody from the PDC Board testified in the trial. I'm sure she knows why but has to be politically correct and must withhold any statements that may damage the Boards impeccable reputation, NOT!

It is not over yet. The bribery charges remain. The grand theft and money laundering charges were dropped. They go back for a re trial on bribery charges in about a month.
