GET OVER DISENROLLMENT? F**K YOU! Says Hopland's Michelle Hammock:

Michelle Hammock Hopland Disenrolled

My friend Michelle Hammock, one of the HOPLAND 74 disenrolled has a powerful piece up on her webpage .  I was proud to share a podium with her in Sacramento as we shared our stories of disenrollment, I wrote about that here.  I ripped my speech up after hearing hers..

The act of disenrollment is an act of genocide, whether the Genocide Convention recognizes it as such or not. It removes the living and deceased identities of federally recognized individuals and strips them of their treaty rights, their tribal constitutional rights, and their legal identities. It breaks families apart and expires the identities of a group of people. It strips them of the federal protections afforded to only Native tribal people uniquely agreed upon with our dominantly white government.

And we are called hateful for decrying the acts. For calling it out and never letting it be forgotten. We are the hate filled ones that need to shut our mouths for the sake of other people’s reputations. We are told to get over it. We are told that because of “our” hate that no one would want us back. We are told that we are so blinded in hate that we cannot offer anything to our tribes.    And to that I say Fuck You!

Hopland Tribe Removes Enrollment Committee Member WITHOUT Presenting Evidence

We've written about the HOPLAND disenrollments here and here and here   Now the evidence is out that Hopland has removed ONE member of their Enrollment Committee for the egregious action of questioning the disenrollments, yet NO evidence was presented.

Carla Antone is OUT we wrote about it in November, and there are new issues on that termination in violation of their own constitution

From her Facebook Page:

FINALLY after two months of waiting on December minutes from TC meeting I get them. As you can see..TC removed me for so-called violating EC policy, which, there is no proof and without cause.

WHERE IS THE PROOF I VIOLATED THIS POLICY!

Sonny Elliott LIED to me about the process of my removal. He skipped the voting by the EC to remove me, Sonny violated the committee policy, he violated my due process rights per our Constitution.

A
ntone vows a fight in tribal court.

Per our committee policies, the only way the Chair of the EC can bring her complaint forth to Council is by a unanimous vote by the Committee to remove me.

OP: How can tribes be taken seriously, when they are not responsible enough to follow their own rules/laws?  Next thing you know, their casino closes and people are out of work, and maybe a HUGE pot bust on the rez.... oh yeah, that happened.

Congressman Jared Huffman has been contacted for help.  Crickets are SO LOUD he might be going unheard...

Hopland Tribe: Speak Out Against the Narrative, LOSE YOUR JOB

The Hopland Tribe, which disenrolled 74 of their members a few years back, is now wielding their power to silence dissent.  On her FB page, enrollment committee member Carla Antone stated that she was REMOVED from the committee without DUE PROCESS, for requesting an investigation into disenrollment.   That seems like a reasonable request for an enrollment committee member, yes?

Is removal the right course of action?  Why didn't they just say NO?

Seems the Hopland Tribe's CONSTITUTION, doesn't allow verbal removal:

Do laws even matter at Hopland?  Or just the ones the chairman likes?  Does the entire council agree with the action to remove?  Is Hall of Shame member Iyesha Miller still pulling strings?

From their public website, here are the tribal council's emails where you can ask them

Sonny J. Elliott Sr. – Chair –             sjelliott@hoplandtribe.com
Diana Billy-Elliott – Vice Chair –       delliott@hoplandtribe.com
Suzanne T. Romero – Secretary –   sromero@hoplandtribe.com
Brian Yepez – Treasurer –                byepez@hoplandtribe.com
David Steele – Member at Large –   dsteele@hoplandtribe.com
Joe San Diego – Member at Large  jsandiego@hoplandtribe.com
Steven Elliott – Member at Large –   selliott@hoplandtribe.com

The Hopland Tribe doesn't care much for laws, remember when their Marijuana Patch got raided just 2 years ago?

Michelle Hammock, one of the Hopland 74, wrote a piece on the immorality of Tribal disenrollment for our protest in Sacramento.  Destroying the lives of so many and disrespecting the ancestors is shameful.

Should Freedom of Speech be protected on Tribal reservations?  Do tribal councils like those of Hopland dishonor themselves or their people by infringing on civil rights?

HOPLAND 74 DISENROLLMENT: Sandra Sigala's Story From Sacramento Native Lives Matter Protest

There were numerous stories shared in Sacramento on the steps of our capitol.
Here's the next one, from a former council member and chair of the Hopland Band of Pomo Indians.  Their disenrollment was reported HERE and Here  Sandra Sigala is a former chairwoman for the tribe.

My name is Sandra Sigala, I come here today to share me and my family’s story about disenrollment that came to pass in March of this year 2016.
I am a Disenrolled tribal member from the Hopland Band of Pomo Indians.  My family and I were wrongfully disenrolled by the Hopland Tribal Council on January 15th this year, later it was finalized by a special General Council meeting on March 19 this year.

I have been a recognized tribal member since 1989 with the tribe.  Later on I was recruited in and voted to hold a seat on the tribal council governing board that led to holding several years of tribal council positions from member at large, to treasurer and finally tribal chairperson from 1992 thru 2004.  This was before the start up of Gaming with our tribe.  I worked with the Tribal Council at that time to bring Gaming to our tribe.  In 1997 as Tribal Chairperson, I gave testimony at the Senate and Congressional levels in Washington DC and Sacramento to get their support for economic development – gaming for tribes on the California Ballot.  I worked endless hours to get the California voters to vote Yes for Indian Gaming.

I held position as Tribal Chair with the Hopland Band of Pomo Indians, 1997 thru 2004 and I take great pride in building the tribe’s economic development and building structures on our tribal land during my leadership.
