Mark Macarro: Native America's Vladimir Putin? Only the Numbers Are Different

Let's begin by saying what must be said:

Pechanga Tribal Chairman Mark Macarro is a strongman and a thug whose authoritarian regime rigs elections, has control of tribal media outlets,  regularly stamps out dissent, invades private property, lies to congress, disappears the opposition, abuses human rights, stinks of corruption and meddles in other nation's sovereignty-- including tribal casino opportunities, where he was the state SPOKESPERSON in pro-tribal casino referendums.

Vlad Putin
Russian Strongman

Mark Macarro
Pechanga Tribal Chairman

Is that any different that what Putin does in Russia?

We have congresspeople and media up in arms for Trump congratulating Putin on his election victory, yet in Temecula, CA, we have our governor, local and national politicians like Darrell Issa and Ken Calvert and local media like the Riverside Press Enterprise regularly ignoring the civil and human rights violations of their tribal neighbor and attending functions at their casino and accepting ad monies.  Even the DNC and Hillary Clinton were Pro-Macarro.

To add insult to injury, Native American entities that rise up against a nickname, are silent to the abuses of people like Macarro, even honoring them.

There are degrees of sin and crimes, surely, but where does a line be drawn?  How many does it have to happen to, TO BE WRONG?

Apartheid?    Nope, okay.
Elder Abuse Nuh-uh, that's okay too.
Theft of Heritage? LOL, what's THAT?
Election Rigging? Child's play
Stripping Citizenship?   It could happen
Racism

If you get rid of your opposition and their votes, how can you lose? It's not murder Pechanga members fear, it's losing their share of casino profits, which can leave them penniless.  And Macarro knows it.

Trump phone Putin to "congratulate him on his victory", media pounces after ignoring the fact that Obama did the exact same thing.  Politicians stood up to apartheid in South Africa, yet stand idly by when it's in their own backyard.

Thanks for NOTHING Senators FEINSTEIN and Harris (and Boxer before her) and thanks for NOTHING Governor Brown.  Failure to lead, failure to protect the defenseless and saluting corruption is your legacy.

Senator Barbara BOXER WILL RETIRE! Hallelujah, After A Decade of Failure to Protect Native Americans UPDATE

Word breaking this morning that California Senator Barbara Boxer, who has done NOTHING to protect the civil and human rights of Native Americans harmed by their own tribes, will retire.

UPDATE:  ISSA fires a volley:  There’s been a vacancy for two decades,” Issa said outside a men’s room near the House floor. “The fact that she’s not running doesn’t change the fact it’s always been a vacant office.”

We met with Boxer's Native American legislative analyst last year, on a bill where Pechanga was attempting to redefine what an allottee was, and steal our water rights, a bill written by the high paid lobbyist wife of Pechanga Chairman Mark Macarro.    At least her guy had the decency to be EMBARRASSED when called out on her sponsorship of the bill.

Is it too much to hope that we can get someone in office who will ACTUALLY care about what tribes are doing? Can we find someone to put an end to corruption?

GOODBYE Senator Boxer, sorry you were so ineffective and unresponsive to the needs of your constituents.

Here's the type of response we got from her on the Water Rights Bill:
 Dear Mr.
Thank you for taking the time to write and share your views with me. Your comments will help me continue to represent you and other Californians to the best of my ability.

Be assured that I will keep your views in mind as the Senate considers legislation on this or similar issues. If you would like additional information about my work in the U.S. Senate, I invite you to visit my website, http://boxer.senate.gov/. From this site, you can access my statements and press releases about current events and pending legislation, request copies of legislation and government reports, and receive detailed information about the many services that I am privileged to provide for my constituents.
You may also wish to visit http://thomas.loc.gov/home/thomas.php to track current and past federal legislation. Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. I appreciate hearing from you.

Sincerely, Barbara Boxer United States Senator

 W. T. F.!?   TRANSLATION:  We didn't read your letters.

Cedarville Tribal Disenrollment Shooting a FAMILY AFFAIR -UPDATED

A woman who opened fire at the headquarters of a Northern California Indian tribe killed her brother, nephew and niece, police said Friday.   THAT is how serious disenrollment is.   At Pechanga, Frances Miranda oversaw the disenrollment of her own family.

The alleged killer, Cherie Rhoades

Cherie Lash Rhoades, former chairwoman of the Cedarville Rancheria tribe, killed a total of four people and critically wounded two others on Thursday during a meeting at tribal headquarters about evicting her and her son from tribal land, authorities said.
Those killed included the suspect's brother, 50-year-old Rurik Davis, her niece, 19-year-old Angel Penn and her nephew, 30-year-old Glenn Calonicco, Modoc County Sheriff Mike Poindexter said.
The other person killed was identified as Sheila Ross, 47, who was not related to the suspect.
WILL CONGRESS now have hearings into disenrollment of Native Americans?  Senator BOXER, Senator Feinstein, STOP all disenrollment.

UPDATES:  SacBee is reporting: A woman suspected of killing four people at the headquarters of an Indian tribe that was evicting her and her son from its land had been under federal investigation over at least $50,000 in missing funds, a person familiar with the tribe's situation.
