No Holiday of Hope for Children of Pechanga Descendants at Christmas. 12 Years WITHOUT A TRIBE

Christmas 2016 marks the 12th Christmas without a tribe for many Pechanga descendants, including young children, well now, not so young...

Pechanga Flag Flown at
Standing Rock, Upside Down Under Distress

The Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians recently brought disadvantaged children to the Casino to "spread cheer" yet, ignoring the children they ACTUALLY disadvantaged, by stripping their citizenship and heritage. In the case of two large families from Pechanga , the Manuela Miranda and the Paulina Hunter descendants, the tribal council, led by Mark Macarro, disadvantage over 100 children via disenrollment, even forcibly removing true Pechanga children from the tribal school.

At the Holiday event, Patrick Murphy, president of the Pechanga Development Corporation said.  “This year, we wanted to do something extra special and bring families in who might be having some tough times.  We know what it’s like to fall on tough times, and that is when it is especially important for families to know they have the support of the community.  This evening, we just wanted to open our doors and our hearts to put on a special evening to rekindle the hope and celebrate the holiday spirit.”

Patrick, we KNOW what it's like to fall on hard times, because YOU and the tribal council CAUSED it.    Open your hearts and convince the council to DO THE RIGHT thing for the Holidays...

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Unfortunately the “New White-Man” is within our tribes, Like Mark Macarro and John Macarro with there mouths spewing colonial teachings to the Tribe.

Hear me, people: We have now to deal with another race- small and feeble when our fathers first met them, but now great and overbearing. Strangely enough they have a mind to till the soil and the love of possession is a disease with them. These people have made many rules that the rich may break but the poor may not. They take their tithes from the poor and weak to support the rich and those who rule.

For us, warriors are not what you think of as warriors. The warrior is not someone who fights, because no one has the right to take another life. The warrior, for us, is one who sacrifices himself for the good of others. His task is to take care of the elderly, the defenseless, those who can not provide for themselves, and above all, the children, the future of humanity.

Another death has occurred in Pala.
Manuel Morro a long time Pala resident has past away this morning.
Many new him as an honest and a good carpenter who did a lot of work on various Reservations. He will be missed by family and friends, and his sister Mary (Morro)Guchino.
Rest in peace Manny.

Merry Christmas to you and your family OP, to you the families in the moratorium, and to my own family from the line of Manuela Miranda. Though we have been harmed by those of our tribe we move forward with our lives we take with us a past that is full of rich cultural meaning and custom. We pass on to our youth the heritage of a people set apart from the world around us. We recognize that Christmas represents a gift from God in the birth of Jesus our savoir. May we honor that gift by living a life that is centered on his will for our lives. Pray for blessings for all even those who we would count as our ennimes as this will honor our heavenly father.

Can't the tribe bring up ending the Moratorium at a tribal meeting or are they still too greedy to enroll new members?? Being Native is not about getting percap it's about community and doing what's right. Then again a lot of Pechanga members wouldn't know they are lineage and only enrolled when the casino came to town, my dog has more native blood than some of the enrolled members at Pechanga. 14 years to correct the rolls is too long, open up enrollment stop being greedy white Indians.

December 25, 2016 at 4:35 PM I do not have hard proof, but I do think that there have been enrollments occurring, as the number of the tribe has grown since our disenrollment in 2004. It is just not being publicized by the tribe. I know several in this moratorium ad they should be given the chance to embrace their culture and be allowed to visit their place where our ancestors once lived.

How did Mark Macarro enroll his wife Holly? isn't she a Filipino or something like that.
There is proof that she gets a per capita check every month and direct deposits it a joint account with Mark at Wells Fargo in Red Hawk.

That would be stealing from the tribe if hollie was a member getting checks.

Another "DEATH" at Pala.
This is becoming a weekly post with kind of news.
One of the twin girls of Carol Cagey passed away on Thursday.
She was only about 26-27 years old.

The reason for the flag being upside down is because Mark was disappointed when he got their.
He thought he was going to Standing Cock to leave his mark.

Wasn't Smith from Pala carrying the wrong flag also?
I think the one he was carrying said Hump Me instead of Cupa.

Victor stands for Standing Cock too.
