Harriet Tubman a Perfect Choice to Replace Andrew "Long Knife" Jackson, Indian Killer

When the news broke that Harriet Tubman was the choice to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill, I was more than satisfied that this was a good choice, after all, we were taught about the Underground Railroad she headed. It was worth, what? a page in our history books?  But LOOK deeper and we should be asking, "What took us so long?"

Harriet Tubman was a hero.  She saved LIVES, she helped the Union Army, even "leading" an attack.   Why was our schooling so shallow?   We know why..she was black, can't have any black American heroes right?

I invite my readers to take a look at the Charles P Wood Manuscripts detailing her work for all of us.

We KNOW that Andrew Jackson was an Indian killer, he wore the mantle proudly, even being elected on the fact.

If ever Jackson showed his unrestrained belligerence, it was when he led a U.S. invasion of Florida. His goal was to throttle an alliance of African American escaped slaves and Seminole Indians who had lived there for years, a rainbow coalition peacefully bringing up their families, defending their lives, freedom and land. -

He was NOT a hero to the Cherokee, whom he had marched at bayonet point. The Cherokee Nation came out with a statement that change was needed:

"Andrew Jackson defied a U.S. Supreme Court ruling and forced the removal of our Cherokee ancestors from homelands we'd occupied in the Southeast for millennia. His actions as president resulted in a genocide of Native Americans and the death of about a quarter of our people. It remains the darkest period in the Cherokee Nation’s history.Jackson's legacy was never one to be celebrated, and his image on our currency is a constant reminder of his crimes against Natives. It's been an insult to our people and to our ancestors, thousands of whom died of starvation and exposure and now lie in unmarked graves along the Trail of Tears. This is a small but meaningful vindication for them, and for our tribal citizens today.

Missing from the statement was that elephant in the room that the Cherokee dragged their slaves on that Trail of Tears, as property.  Read about those slave descendents and how they are NOW being treated by the Cherokee: Freedmen

Harriet Tubman, runaway slave, abolitionist, replacing a Cherokee slave owner killer on a $20 bill.   Interesting to note, that TUBMAN worked DECADES to get her rightful pension for her work as a UNION SPY...which was cut down by the Democrats to $20!

Grover Cleveland $20 Note

I think we need more history, don't you.   OH, and for those whining about the change?  Andrew Jackson replaced GROVER CLEVELAND on the $20, and we don't hear his fans whining about it...

You know I agree that Andrew Jackson should be replaced and that Harriet Tubman would be a wonderful choice, yet I also feel that the face of our currency should be reserved for just past "dead" presidents.
