Pechanga Chairman Mark Macarro Challenged by Felon in Upcoming Election. Is He LOSING his Luster?

Word coming from the Pechanga Reservation that Chairman Mark Macarro is being challenged by Raymond Basquez Sr. an elder from the Masiel-Basquez Crime family.

It's curious that the elder Basquez, chooses this time to raise his challenge to Macarro's leadership. Does he believe that Macarro is weak and may not feel he has to campaign for his position?

Macarro, who is well known in Indian Country for presiding over the disenrollment and genocide of 25% of his tribe, was the subject of a recall attempt by a group known as the CPP (Concerned Pechanga People).   This group allied themselves previously with the diminutive chairman in eliminated two large voting blocs from the  Manuela Miranda and Paulina Hunter descendents.
Miranda was a descendent of Pablo Apis, on whose land grant the Pechanga Resort & Casino is on, and Paulina Hunter is an Original Pechanga Person, who received an allotment on the reservation as a tribal person.

Basquez, running for chairman is a convicted felon and word also says that his son, Raymond Jr. ALSO a convicted felon is running for council.   We wrote about Basquez Jr. in 2008:

Raymond Basquez Jr. son of Raymond Basquez Sr., one of those involved in eliminating 25% of the tribe, who can be seen in Pechanga's commercials, long hair, saying he just "wanted to give back" threatened us yesterday. He drove his shiny Escalade west on Pechanga Parkway, yelling at us, "Get a JOB!" and flipping us off. He sped west and made a quick left to make a u-turn. Aggressive driving in his huge vehicle, we knew he was coming back. A little disconcerting, because we knew he had been on parole. Ray Jr. stopped his Escalade about 7 car lenghts from the limit line, with a green light and GETS OUT of his vehicle. He circles to the back and my brother and I head back to meet him. When he sees my brother coming, he opens his back door (not a good sign in CA) but we advance anyway. He pulls out....... a Yes on 94-97 STICKER to put on his car! ROFL! He's taunting us: "you're out on the street, man!" Guess he was in women's prison. Raymond Jr. YOU ARE A PUSSY. Pechanga, great job as having Raymond Basquez Jr. as your defender.

A third member of the family, Andrew Masiel is currently on the Pechanga Tribal Council and sat in judgement of two families that his mother and aunt voted to strip the citizenship from in 2004 and 2006.   He is a leader in the California Democratic Party.

Interesting that the 1st best choice for the Pechanga Tribe is a man who oversaw the paper genocide of 25% of the tribe.  One who installed his wife's company as their lobbyist, which gets $250,000 per year, and has largely FAILED against terminated members in a water rights dispute.

They want mark out of the way so they could rape the casino even more.

They don't want much change on either Bad Actor. Elder Abuse has been approved by both runners. At least Macarro can prove he belongs here. Basquez corruption runs deep in the family, both crimes against the band and outside. I'll pick Macarro again. Maybe he will pull the plug on the Corruption and fix the elder abuse?

Only two candidates for tribal chair? It's not hard to pick the best if the worst. Please Pechanga nominate a best and see what potential has been lost on greed and corruption.

Had the rule against fellows holding elected positions been changed? I remember years ago some back and forth, at a general meeting, between maccarro and Basquez jr about allowing fellons (who paid their penance) be allowed to run for tribal office.

Really?

Oh ya the Bad Actor Association (CPP) saying the thieves and liars have paid their penance. The whole picture shows the truth, not just what is being lied about. My Auntie made paperwork while working at the BIA, my other cousin stole outright from the band, my sister made drugs, I used drugs. Help, the liar is not lying enough on the bad actors club, so I want to run against him. Dad you can run too!

I was told that if Raymond Sr wins the elections he will step down and Andrew Masiel will step in as chair this id their plan.

I was told Andrews sister Jeannie is coordinating all the ruckus with the bad actors club. The bad actors will do anything to keep the corrupt actions going. If any other changes occur, the liars club may not be the same. Look across the Ocean, this game has already been played. Lies are lies. Is that the recognition needed?

We will keep Macarro in the limelight. He lies better than the rest. Macarro for Spokesman, is better.

That's the plan already.

Talk is jennie is going to destroy the compact,..who will stand up and save it?

The issue of slots being deported into other countries for personal gain and not Band gain should be another fact that helps the band get rid of the Bad Actors. Criminals that have shown their true belonging, in the entire family should enlighten "ALL" to the truth. Thieves and criminals taking actions to hide their ways is not respecting "ALL". Supporters of the Actors are looking for the benefits while they support the Bad Actors. The truth is crystal clear, its interesting if you cant see clearly.

Raymond Sr vs Macarro? Geez, can't they get someone else to run? Last time out, as I recall, John Magee ran against Macarro. I know Magee didn't really side against us, at least directly, but did he ever do anything for us or did he look the other way when we were disenrolled?

Too bad as with us, two large family lines in the tribe, Magee would have likely beaten Macarro.

Macarro should let the disenrolled back in before the election...that would ensure his win...and then disenroll Basquez...

What's the definition of a "bad actor?"

Is anything positive or good ever posted here? Or only if it makes someone look bad? I look in here now and then, & I never son anything positive talked about. I suppose that's because it's what this site 8 for. I am sorry.

Andy can't be installed as Chairman if Basquez Sr won & stepped down. Violates the Constitution. Council would choose 1 among themselves to conduct business as interim until election can be held.

Sr is running to guage Macarro's strength. A lot of Sr votes means Macarro is weak. Ripe for taking down next time.

The only provision in the Constitution about felons is, "no conviction in past 5 years." Hasn't changes since 1979.

Jenny has done enough destroying- her legacy, her reputation, her character, and her per-cap. She no longer has the reach, or the political muscle to have any affect on legislation or compacts. The only compact Jenny controls is the one with a mirror that's in her purse.

I vote for Vincent Ibanez.

The sad day stays in effect.

"Bad Actors" is exactly that. Here at the Pechanga story is a group of them sharing lies inside the band and outside the band to justify their misuse of tribal sovereignty. Allowing the Bad Actors to take advantage of others, then telling lies inside and outside to try and justify it.

The real sad fact is recently Indian Country Today posted another article full of misinformation of the Bad Actors club here at Pechanga. The facts where overlooked again because the Bad Actors shared lies and the writer of the Article didn't investigate the story before it was shared. Here we are and giving the truth and exposing the Bad actors is the lesson they will get, We will not go anywhere. No one at Pechanga is more Indian than anyone else. ALL MEANS ALL 4-EVER. We are willing to share the truth over lies anytime. Bad actors have no truth to share.

Oh No has he already been released for 5yrs.?

Raymond Basques Sr was in prison for rape and his son Raymond Jr was in prison for drugs I believe selling them.

So does that mean that they will get the Council Members "HIGH" and then Rape them.

A rapist can become a chief?...did he rape a man or a woman?

Tells you about the weak ass membership ok ,with a rape boy on the council.

The most dangerous liars are the one who think they are telling the truth. Even when they are questioned about provable facts.

It is so sad that the only thing these committees and tribal councils will be remembered for is how they helped dismantle their own history and legitimacy as a tribe. What is even more disturbing is the amount of people that were a part of a tribe from before federal recognition and worked side by side with members to get federal recognition and now people that know the truth are arguing those same people that put in the work, blood, sweat, and tears do not belong. Are people that ignorant to think that people don't know the actual truth and even more importantly were present when original forms were signed and articles of association were put in place. It is time to stop allowing ignorance to continue and allowing people to lie there way into disenrollment hearings. Make no mistake, those that do not stand up for what is right will be exposed in name for what they allowed to happen by being silent. Your good name is as good as gone forever if you encourage and support termination and relocation of your own people. Stand up people or you are one disenrollment away from losing all your history, heritage, advocates, and legitimacy as a people.

My Ancestor recognized the Hunter clan, but hey why should I have to recognize their descendants? They enrolled back when the Band joined the recognition, but today I don't need to allow them to share in anything, it's all Mine. I'm sure our Ancestors understand my explanation.
