Pechanga Elder, Eloise Cornejo Passes

Sad news from the Hunter Family.  Eloise Cornejo, 79,  daughter of Johnny Miller and great grandaughter of Pauline Hunter has passed.

She suffered from kidney failure and is survived by five children.

Paulina Hunter, was allotted land on the Temecula Indian Reservaton in 1895.  She and her descendents were disenrolled from the Pechanga band by a corrupt tribal council, which includes Chairman Mark Macarro, and council members Andrew Masiel Sr. and Russell "Butch" Murphy.

So sorry for your family’s loss, I understand the nature of such loss. It is my hope that those who were close will continue her story by sharing with the younger generations what they learned from her. Keep up the fight so that her death will not be in-vein. She has traveled to that place and is now speaking of the courage of her family, and how they continue to fight for the right to reclaim their place along the unbroken line of your ancestors.

I am sorry to hear about her passing. We will continue to work to right the wrongs that have been perpetrated on her and family.

TRIBAL DIS-ENROLLMENT OPENS THE DOOR TO GENOCIDE OF A TRIBAL NATION, IT OPENS THE DOOR AND ALLOWS THE GOVERNMENT... http://fb.me/1OfwLfuid

The Bureau of Indian Affairs never classified Paulina Walla Hunter as an Indian, much less a Pechanga Indian. We know the names of her parents but not their ancestry. By extension, we cannot know the ancestry of PWH. Further, as the non-members know full well, land ownership at Pechanga does not serve as a criteria of tribal membership. Via their disenrollment, the non-members have returned to their true status.

" land ownership at Pechanga does not serve as a criteria of tribal membership"

WRONG as at the time of there disenrollment one of the criteria for enroll was to be a direct decendent of an original allottees.

The requirement for enrollment has been changed since, but at the time of there disenrollment they were supposed to be judged in accordance with the requirements that were in place at the time of there origional enrollment.

Wrong: "one of the criteria for enroll was to be a direct decendent of an original allottees."

A few original allottees at Pechanga did not come from Pechanga, but from other tribes. Hence, land ownership at Pechanga has never served as one of the criteria for enrollment.

Please know, Dear Reader, this example shows how the disenrolled non-members continue to immerse themselves in a wrong understanding of the matter of qualifying for enrollment.

The supplement page that came with the first enrollment application in 1978 listed being a lineal descendant from an original allottee as one of the ways to determine tribal membership.

There were exceptions to this rule and, yes, there were some people from other local tribes who got allotments at Pechanga but those exceptions were so noted in the margin of the allotment records. For example, there are a few records that list allottees as being from Pala.

Paulina Hunter on the other hand was listed as head of household on those allotment records as were a lof of other tribal members.

Another way to show tribal membership that was listed in the supplement to the 1978 enrollment application?

Have a recognized tribal member vouch for someone.

The Hunters got vaunted (much praised)elder, called so on Pechanga's own official website, Antonio Ashman who said in a notarized statement when asked, "did you know Paulina Hunter as a member of the Band?" He answered, "yes, I knew as such."

Mr. Ashman was 20 years old in 1899when Paulina Hunter died so he, being an original member himself, would know who was a member of the Band and who wasn't unlike our resident tribal hack.

Regarding the census rolls that are on ancestry.com. We turned in actual red ribboned certified copies of these same records from the national archives but the enrollment committee ignored this evidence along with Mr. Ashman's testimony as well as our probate evidence in wrongly deciding to disenroll us.

How many people think Anotherview, the tribal hack, or whoever he is, has no decency for dishonoring the memory of Eloise, the great granddaughter of Paulina for even posting his dribble on this thread?

Is he Ed the Potato Head? If so, at least Eloise has people to mourn for her while he would have very few, if any mourners when he passes.

Absurdism

(The supplement page that came with the first enrollment application in 1978 listed being a lineal descendant from an original allottee as one of the ways to determine tribal membership.)

I am not the hack, but don't disgrace my blood or nation.

The criteria for enrollment is to be a descendant of an Original Pechanga person. Having an allotment is not a criteria for enrollment. Any person living on reservation land when the BIA agents were allotting land would have received an allotment thus Paulina Walla Hunter received an allotment.

Does paulina hunter have this /nobody on the pechanga council does.

Lets look at this harder?

Who has a application for enrollment with the Indians with the state of California Act of may 18 1928 ?

The Secretary of Interior D.C
made a list or roll and approved and stamped it of Pechanga Indians.

See PALA BLOG for a example of application.(poor example not stamped)

If your grandfather or grandmother does not have one (red flag alert)?

(it must be stamped and approved)

You left out part of my qoute. You can't leave out part of what I said and give a fair response.

Here is the rest of what I said:

There was a typo in my first post as here is what Mr. Antonio Ashman said when he was asked, "did you know Paulina Hunter as a member of the Band?" He answered, "yes, I knew her as such."

I left out the word her the first time.

It is the people who disenrolled us who have disgraced our blood and our nation, not us.

Someone else pointed out that the requirement was to be a lineal descendant of an original Pechanga person and we proved that we are but the enrollment committee ignored our proof.

Well since Paulina Hunter died in 1899 she wouldn't have a 1928 application but her children and grandchidren had them.

In the interest of fairness, I understand most of the members of the Pechanga tribal council families do have 1928 applications.

Some of them probably though don't have allotment patents from the U.S. government from the 1890s as Paulina Hunter has though.

Could you post a copy of your 1928 application (this is proof your part of the tribe) like pala blog did?

Temecula Band of "Luiseno" mission Indians

Pechanga Band of "Luiseno" Indians

Documents with both headings stacked deep "red ribbon certified" handed over when requested.

Depositions "red ribbon certified depositions" recorded oral recognition over 6 in total handed over when requested.

The tribes own hired expert examined all surviving history.

Paulina Hunter is Pechanga no doubt.

Did you forget that it was the Tribe (or the enrollment committee) that hired the worlds foremost expert on California Indian ancestry? And that he came up with the fact that not only was she 100% Temecula Pechanga Indian, but that her father Mateo Quasicac was the only Indian listed in the pardrones as being born at the place known as Pechanga over 75 years before the Pechanga reservation was even created! Also the records indicate that her maternal grandmother, Restituta Quenix, was from the from the original Temecula Indian village.

These are facts
