Vice President Joe Biden: You Were Here First.... to Hispanics

Yes, they told us if we voted for McCain we'd have a fool for Vice President...
Vice President Joe Biden compared Irish immigration the United States to Hispanic immigration -- but noted Hispanics were here first.
Biden on Thursday hosted the annual Hispanic Heritage Month reception at the Naval Observatory. Guests included about 100 Hispanic veterans, active duty service members, elected officials and others. The music was classical Mexican.

"You all were here before us," Biden said, according to a pool report.

No wonder the Obama Administration turns a blind eye to civil rights violations in Indian Country.

How do we keep hope alive when we have a doofus like this? He's a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

Maybe he was thinking of the Mexicarro's?

Who will replace him in the next election?

Or, rather, who should replace him...

Technically, he was telling the truth. The context of his remarks were to a Hispanic crowd honoring Hispanic Heritage month. The Spanish had established colonies in the United States prior to the English. Mexico existed before US expansion took over Mexican lands. I don't think he was going to mention Indians in there at all.

I would have been offended if he made those remarks to Indians during a speech honoring Native American heritage month. Then it would have been a different context all together.

Here in Calfornia and other western states that were part of Mexico were only actually part of Mexico for less than 30 years after they took them from Spain who had taken them from the Indians.

So the idea that Mexico has any claim on these lands makes no sense.

So part of my family, California Indians, were here before anyone else.

No,... "We" were here first!".... This before anyone knew there was a continent over here. Tell me why the "Native American" is always the last to be recognized as such? So where do they get off stating that Mexico has a claim on these lands? It was stolen from us first, and "We are Still Here!" Why not say "Native Americans" have the first claim to these lands? The Spanish took by force, as did England and the like, our land for their own "Greed!" We were rounded up and put on reservations, or murdered by these "THUGS" and now we are supposed to welcome them with open arms? I think not. We are no more then "Shadow People" in the overall skeam of this country, and we are treated as such.

O.K., I filed for "Tribal Advacate!" I posted on O.P. what I said when they asked me why I wanted the position, and now I cn't find it. I gave them an ear full. That alone will stop me from being picked as "Advocate!" But, alas, the chances would be "Slim to None" anyway.
